Eleazar [‘Lee’] Anyene 1999

Lee is increasingly gaining recognition in the junior criminal bar. With broad academic and professional backgrounds, he has a very keen eye for justice, detail and giving voice to the voiceless in society. He is regularly instructed across the full range of general crime - from road traffic to murder.

Lee retains a small but active practice in mental health law, human rights (immigration & asylum) and licensing law.

He is a member of Forensic Science Society and the Criminal Bar Association.

- R v EBZ (2009) – Supply of Class A using unquestioning student couriers.

- R v SNN & 3 Ors (2008) Large-scale Cannabis cultivation around Swansea area.

- R v VTN & 3 Ors (2007) – Cannabis cultivation also on a very large scale around Southampton.

- R v UN (2007) Large-scale Cannabis cultivation in many counties organised through front businesses and vulnerable immigrants.

- R v AKMM (2009) – Allegation of possessing firearm with intent to endanger life - ballistics and DNA evidence.

Fraud

- R v ATS & 5 Ors (2011) – Conspiracy to defraud the NHS by payroll staff using banking details of various parties.

- R v JO & Anor (2011) Conspiracy to defraud individuals in lottery advanced fee scams via the Internet.

- R v AB (2005) – Conspiracy to defraud Secretary of State for the Home Department. Part of ‘largest marriage scam’ case as reported.

- R v KO & Anor (2004) – Conspiracy to defraud the NHS – Part of the ‘NHS Ghost worker scam’ case valued at £0.5m.

Money Laundering

- R v UD (2010) – Allegation constructed wholly from entries in one of many accounting documents – Valued at over £2m for POCA proceedings.

- R v UD & 2 Ors (2008) – Allegation of transporting large amounts in cash across borders by traders – Acquitted on a legal ruling.

- R v SB (2008) – Fraud involving Icelandic bank and internet banking dissipated through purchase of expensive watches and similar luxury goods.

– Large scale public disorder by college students challenging controls on their homeward journeys.
