Mohammed attended Middlesex University before attending the Inns of Court School of Law to complete his Bar exams. Mohammed was called to the Bar in 2002 and finished pupillage in 2003.

During his time at the Bar Mohammed has established a strong criminal practice specialising in defending cases in the crown court with an emphasis on three main themes, gangland violence, importation and exportation of drugs from nominal values to ½ a million pounds and deception/fraud offences ranging from £6000 - £145,000. Highlight of his career to date being the trial of six men in the Old Bailey charged with the murder of a nightclub promoter in December 2006.

In September 2006 Mohammed was also placed onto the approved list of Attorney General prosecutors and is expanding his criminal practice to include representing prosecuting authorities, specifically the Revenue and Customs department and in this capacity has also developed an interest in confiscation proceedings defending clients with over £30,000 being confiscated.

Other Interests

Away from the Bar Mohammed regularly lectures at the University of Westminster on the Librarians course with an emphasis on Criminal Law, Banking and financing law and Compnay Law. The themes of the lectures vary greatly but recently have explored the relationship with money laundering and terrorism as well as the impact of new legislation on the fight against terrorism in the international arena.

    Prosecuted Importation of Class A drugs in struts of luggage.
     

  4. R v Aina & Adebayo

    Student Loan fraud valued at £175,000 and ongoing confiscation proceedings
     

  5. R v Simpson

    Dealing of drugs to undercover officers and Test Purchase officers in Lewes over a 2 year period.
     

  6. DWP v Lewis

    Benefit fraud by a young mother over a two year period totalling £3000
     

  7. DWP v Betty Lynch

    Council tax and Housing benefit fraud by an elderly lady over a 20 year period.

Civil Cases of Note

Gloria Speck v Selwyn Bowen - involving a road traffic accident and the value of a race horse estimated at £35,000.

Phillips v Rhondda Cynon Taff - involving a young motorcycle champion in Wales and a tripping claim.

Barrie Morris v Bridgend Council - issue of whether a roadway should be given the same inspection criteria as a footpath when Claimants did not cross at designated areas.
