Derek 'Storm' Westmaas 1984

Storm Westmaas received a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy and Politics from Warwick University and completed a Diploma in Law from City University, London. He was called to the Bar of England in 1984 and is a member of the Inner Temple.
He is admitted to practice as a member of the Bars of England and Wales, Guyana, Anguilla and St Kitts and has appeared in the Courts of Appeal in the Caribbean and the High and lower courts in both England and the Caribbean.
His legal specialism’s include immigration, mental health, contract, insurance, employment and the ethical regulation of politicians and the interpretation of Codes of Conduct and associated legislation, constitutional and administrative law and judicial review.  
Storm’s experience includes contentious and non-contentious company and commercial matters, and complex litigation requiring expertise in elements of US tax and banking law and US and Caribbean accountancy practices and procedures.
Storm has advised and represented a wide range of regional and international clients which have included oil exploration, insurance and hotel companies, national and local government departments and officers and local government councils. 
He is an ex-Treasurer of the Guyana Bar Association.
